The purpose of the Hopewell United Methodist Church is to know Jesus Christ, and through His love, to make Him known, sharing his miraculous, life-changing love and mercy with our community and the world.

Hopewell United Methodist Church is part of the United Methodist Church, a Protestant denomination formed in the 1730s by John and Charles Wesley.

The UMC is the second-largest Protestant denomination in the U.S., with approximately 9 million members, and has deep roots in New Jersey. The Jersey Shore town of Asbury Park may be best known as the hometown of rock musician Bruce Springsteen, but it was named after Frances Asbury, the first Methodist bishop in the United States.
