The Hopewell Valley Recreation Department was created in the fall of 2000 in order to foster a regional approach to the delivery of recreation and leisure services.
The department was launched through an innovative Interlocal Services Agreement between Hopewell Township, Hopewell Borough, Pennington Borough, and the Hopewell Valley Regional School District. As partners, their goal is to provide a comprehensive array of recreation and leisure services for the entire Hopewell Valley community. This new endeavor is designed to complement and enhance existing programs and traditions.
The department has enjoyed tremendous early success thanks to strong community support and participation.
The Hopewell Valley Parks and Recreation Department provides a regional approach to the comprehensive delivery of recreation and leisure services for the entire Hopewell Valley community.
The recreation division complements, supports, and enhances existing programs and traditions, and creates new opportunities for active play and socialization for people of all ages.
The parks division encourages outdoor pursuits and provides stewardship of well-maintained parks and playgrounds.
Short Range Goals & Objectives
Recreation:
Implement the creation of the Hopewell Valley Schoolhouse, a valley-wide community education program sponsored in cooperation with the Hopewell Valley Regional School District.
Parks:
Complete the first phase of a significant tree and landscaping installation project at the Municipal Athletic Complex.
Facilitate the construction of a new septic system at the MAC site.
Facilitate the installation of a new electrical system for the MAC site in cooperation with the township engineer and youth sports organizations.
