Hunt Valley Church

13015 Beaver Dam Road
410-771-0690

Mission:
Reaching people where they are and transforming their lives through Christ to impact the world for Him.

History:
Hunt Valley Church began in the spring of 1990 when a dozen people planned a meeting in a living room to pray and plan for a new church in the Hunt Valley area, and nearly 100 people showed up!

Within weeks 173 people began meeting for services, unexpectedly bouncing around like nomads from one hotel to another. Despite the difficulties, within 4 months the church had formally organized itself as a congregation in the Presbyterian Church in America with over 200 members, a process which ordinarily takes 3-4 years.

It took two years to find the first pastor, but in June 1992 Frank Boswell and his family arrived from Austin, Texas, with the stated priority of bringing a fresh vision and strategy for an outreach-focused church.

Step One was to develop a more contemporary approach with a change in the style of worship.

Next was to relocate the church from to an office building behind the Marriott Hotel, a location which served as home for the next five hears, from 1993-1997.

Although the church already owned 23 beautiful acres of land adjoining I-83 at Beaver Dam Road, the next couple of years was devoted to building staff and putting the Christian way of life into practice through various ministries, particularly summer missions trips, holiday food baskets for the poor, and restoring old row homes with Habitat for Humanity in the Sandtown area of Baltimore.
