The Senior Citizen Recreation Department serves township and surrounding community residents and guests age 50 and older with recreational activities and enrichment events as well as trips and outings that helps to promote friendship and the well-being of all participants in a welcoming and non-discriminating atmosphere.
The Senior Citizen Recreation Department activities and events are held in both the Krzyske & Multi-Purpose (aka The Barn) Senior Centers and in The Senior Park with trips and outing utilizing our newly purchased 28 passenger luxury bus and or our 7 passenger Ford Flex.
The Senior Citizen Recreation Department has community outreach for residents age 50 or older and or adults with disabilities who live in the township as a contracted site for The Senior Alliance: Nutrition Program Meals-on-Wheels (MOW) Program home-delivered three days per week and Wayne County Senior Citizen Services: The Emergency Food Assistance (TEFA) Program held monthly, and limited transportation to doctor appointments, prescription pick-up, and or grocery shopping.
Huron Township Senior Citizen Recreation Department and transportation is funded by Huron Charter Township and in part by The Senior Alliance 1C in accordance with The Older Americans Act and The Older Michiganians Act.
