The Interlachen Lions Club is a member club of Lions Clubs International, the largest service organization in the world. Dubbed Knights of the Blind by Helen Keller, Lions Club members work to raise funds to support their charities which are aimed at helping sight or hearing impaired persons and at educating everyone about conditions and diseases which affect sight and hearing, such as diabetes and glaucoma.
The Interlachen Lions Club supports all of the Lions charities as well as their local projects of scholarships for Interlachen High School graduates, vision screening, a community health fair, four volunteer fire departments, Little League baseball, organizations for senior citizens, the Civil Air Patrol, the award-winning Interlachen High School Band, and other local school and community projects aimed at helping others.
Membership is by invitation only. Those interested in becoming a member of this 50 member strong leadership organization should contact the club secretary or club president to receive an invitation to visit a meeting in order to be considered for membership.
Our motto is "We Serve." We do serve, our community, our state, our nation and the world. We do so with much laughter and hard work. We invited all to come to our community projects and participate with us in the fight to end preventable blindness throughout the world.
