James H. Cox Elementary School kindergarten through fifth grade school is a friendly, safe, and positive environment, which encourages academic excellence, promotes student self esteem, and values individual and cultural diversity. We have a team of dedicated teachers who teach to the California State Standards; which has resulted in consistent student gains of high academic achievement on the California Standards Test (STAR) and CAT-6. There are also programs available to students that help them achieve their highest potential, these include a Reading Clinic, individual tutoring, after-school remediation classes, bilingual tutoring, and GATE classes. Before and after-school care is available at school through the Extended School Program. Cox School has an excellent Parent Teacher Organization who works together with the staff to provide a caring and supportive environment for all of our students.
