Jan Mann Opportunity School is an alternative education center which currently houses approximately 400 students who find difficulty adjusting to the regular school environment. Located in the Northwest Dade community, Jan Mann is a laboratory school for Florida Memorial College. The mission of Jan Mann is to motivate students to alter negative behaviors and improve academic skills so that they may be mainstreamed into regular schools and become productive members of society. To achieve our mission, the faculty and staff have identified the improvement of reading skills, behaviors, attendance and staff morale as our immediate goals. Emphasis is also placed on our school-to-work program which promotes career awareness and on our mathematics and science programs which are exceedingly challenging.

Jan Mann Opportunity School looks forward to providing students with the opportunity to make positive changes in their lives which lead to academic success. We endeavor to "teach the mind to think, the hands to work and the heart to love."

Jan Mann Opportunity School includes grades 6-8 and seeks to meet the needs of our students through its unique delivery of instructional programs which focus on academics, behaviors, and social skills.
