Jefferson County is nestled in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. The county is rich in history, scenery, and recreation. The landscape is a perfect combination of rolling hills, river bottom farmlands and scenic lakes.
Jefferson County is blessed with two lakes. Both Douglas and Cherokee lakes offer outstanding fishing, boating and camping.
Jefferson County is ideally located in that it is in very close proximity of Knoxville, TN as well as the Gatlinburg, Sevierville and Pigeon Forge area. We are proud to be one of East Tennessee's fastest growing economies.
The population of Jefferson County is always increasing and yet the relaxed lifestyle here remains constant.
Jefferson County is ideally located in East Tennessee within a day's drive of two thirds of the United States population. We are blessed to have Interstate 40 and 81 meet in our county and we have five interstate exits located within Jefferson County.
We are ideally situated within an hours drive of three airports: McGhee Tyson airport is in Knoxville, the Tri-Cities Regional airport in Blountville, and the commercial airport in Asheville, North Carolina.
Also, Jefferson County is within a 45 minute drive of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, America's most visited National Park. We are also bordered by two TVA lakes: Douglas Lake and Cherokee Lake.
