The Jefferson Elementary School staff, parents, and students will represent a school that embraces high expectations, holding both students and staff accountable for ongoing, academic achievement and contributions to the community. With the focus on learning, we will continue to address the urgent need to prepare our diverse student population for a successful future. Our positive environment will clearly show respect, fairness, and acceptance for all the students and families we serve.
Jefferson Elementary is rich in community history as one of the original schools in Carlsbad. First built in 1951, it is the alma mater of many outstanding Carlsbad and San Diego County citizens, including Mark Baldwin, the Dean of Education at Cal State San Marcos, Allan Kelly, former CUSD Board member and community leader, and Bethany Bentley, the 2005 valedictorian of Carlsbad High School.
The original campus was torn down and rebuilt in 2000. The school now boasts a large auditorium with a stage, two complete computer labs, technology in every classroom, indoor and outdoor eating areas, an outdoor amphitheater, a parent volunteer room, the district assessment center, and forty classrooms.
