About:
As we celebrate 40+ years of the Junction City Arts Council we enjoy reflecting on the many wonderful events and activities held over the years and quite a few changes as well.
In 2013, the Council decided to move the office, studio and gallery from the storefront location to space in the C.L. Hoover Opera House building at 135 West 7th concern that our nonprofit organization might not survive this time of transition, but to paraphrase Mark Twain, “Reports of our demise are greatly exaggerated.”
The Junction City Arts Council was founded for the purpose of bringing together individuals and organizations interested in the promotion and development of all forms of art and culture in Junction City and Geary County. We continue to pursue this vision. In addition to hosting cultural events to promote the arts and providing a gallery where local artists can display their work, the Junction City Arts Council conducts art classes for adults, preschoolers and older children every week. At noon on Saturdays a free art class underwritten by corporate sponsors is offered to children ages 5 through 10 that do not have access to art classes in school.
For many years the Arts Council operated with a volunteer staff, as we do today. Many faithful individuals, businesses and charitable organizations have provided financial resources, time and talent. We wish to express our most sincere thanks to all who have contributed both financially and through their hard work and dedication during the past years and in those to come.
