About Us :
Ka'u High and Pahala Elementary School is currently accredited by the Western Association for Schools and Colleges. A full self-study, under the Focus on Learning process, was completed in Spring 2006 with a 4 day visitation. Results will be available during the summer. The previous self-study occurred in 2000 that resulted in the school receiving accreditation for a term of six years with a 3 year Progress Report on major recommendations and a one-day on-site review.
Ka'u High and Pahala Elementary School is currently identified as Restructuring. In the 2003-2004 school year, Price-Waterhouse Coopers did a review of the school. In the spring of 2004 the Los Angeles County Office of Education was contracted to provide services to assist the school. Marci Perry, consultant for LACOE, worked with the complex area and school teams to create an Intervention Plan which was implemented in school year 2004-2005. Spring 2005 HSA results determined that the school did not make Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP).
