History of Peterborough Kiwanis Club
The Kiwanis Club of Peterborough was formed in 1989 and chartered in 1990. For over 15 years we have been serving the people of the Monadnock Region by providing needed services to those less fortunate than ourselves. Our belief is that when we strengthen, inform and aid our fellow citizens, we help to create a better place for all of us to live. We are extremely proud of our community and our Club's role in helping it continue to be a wonderful place to live.

Our Objectives are comprehensive, and are those adopted by Kiwanis International.

  • To give primacy to the human and spiritual, rather than the material values of life.
  • To encourage the daily living of the golden rule in all human relationships.
  • To promote the adoption and application of higher social, business and professional standards.
  • To develop by precept and example a more intelligent, aggressive and serviceable citizenship.
  • To provide, through this club, a practical means to form enduring friendships, to render altruistic service and to build a better community.

To co-operate in creating and maintaining that sound public opinion and high idealism which makes possible the increase of righteousness, justice, patriotism and goodwill.

Guided by six permanent Objects, Kiwanis clubs view their role within their respective communities with a great deal of foresight. Key aspects to operating an effective club include:

  • Evaluating both children’s issues and community needs on an ongoing basis
  • Conducting service projects to respond to those identified needs
  • Maintaining an active membership roster of professional business people who have both the desire and the ability to serve their community.
