La Porte Community Church began in 1925 as a true community church which encompassed all denominations. As the town of La Porte grew, the different denominations began to build their own churches and started to split off from the Community Church. We are still affiliated with the Disciples of Christ (Christian), but the Church as a whole remains a place that all peoples, of all faiths are welcome to come and worship. We, as a Church, are mainly bibled-based, believing in Jesus Christ as our Savior, in His birth, baptism, crucifixtion and resurrection. We, as a congregation, celebrate the life and death of our Savior through communion on the first Sunday of the month, through song and praise and through special services throughout the year. The fifth Sunday of each month is given to the children of the Church in a special service where the youth develop and lead the service.
We are located just south of La Porte's historical Main Street at 202 S. 1st St., at the corner of 1st and "A". There are two worship services on Sunday. The early service begins at 8:30 while the late service begins at 10:45. Between the two services, we offer both adult and children's Sunday School begining at 9:45. Along with our worship services and educational programs, La Porte Community Church has an infant to 4-yr-old nursery, a Children's Church Service (at the time of the late service), and a well respected and wonderfully talented music program, which includes an adult choir and a bell choir. The youth of the Church meet every other Sunday after the late service to interact with their peers in a way for educational and spiritual growth.
