About Us:
The Lake Chelan Historical Society was founded in 1970 for the purpose of operating an educational historical museum and resource library. James Lindston headed the foundation and was it's historian for may years.
In August of 1970 the Historical Society received a donation of the Seafirst Bank Building in downtown Chelan. Since June 1972, the Society has operated the Lake Chelan Historical Museum in this building. Currently the Museum has approximately 11,000 square feet storage and exhibit floor space on two floors of the building.
The collection includes some of the finest local Native American clothing and baskets, as well as a rare collection of films from the early 1900's. One large display room and four smaller rooms exhibit objects dating back to the Chelan Valley pioneer days. The Museum also holds an extensive collection of early photographs of Chelan, Chelan Falls, Manson and Stehekin.
