Lake Eola Charter School's Mission Statement
The mission of Lake Eola Charter School (LECS) is to enable students to become more rationally conscious persons who possess the ability to act intentionally, ethically and knowledgeably in the context of a democratic community. LECS believes that the foundation for establishing life long learning is a carefully structured curricula which builds mastery of an integrated body of core knowledge in the arts and sciences, together with basic critical thinking and communication skills. Often a rigorous curriculum is sacrificed in order to foster self esteem. LECS believes that genuine self esteem comes from academic accomplishments which are acknowledged and celebrated as milestones throughout the learning process. Student success is based, not on a comparison between students, but on a comparison of the students progress in satisfying core standards. All students are expected to achieve academic excellence.
To accomplish this mission, Lake Eola Charter School will have:
Rigorous curricula with well-defined grade-by-grade outcomes in line with the Sunshine State, National, and International Standards. The focus is on cumulative acquisition of knowledge and skills in each academic area;
Teaching methods where the teacher is seen as a facilitator who provides children the resources, challenges, and hands-on experiences they need to master grade-appropriate skills, ideas and facts in every subject area;
Integrated formal and informal assessments based on content and performance standards which confirm student progress and provide for early identification of those students who require either additional support or greater challenge;
A school environment which recognizes and fosters traditional democratic values such as self discipline, integrity, fairness, respect and personal responsibility
A partnership program with members of the business, science and arts community in downtown Orlando.
Timely and complete communication with parents about their child's progress.
School uniforms which will contribute to pride in school participation, and alleviate undue emphasis on appearance and socio-economic differences.
