Mission:
Lake Mathews Elementary School is a professional learning community with high expectations for all of its members. We are committed to implementing best practices in instruction so students attain the goal of being proficient or advanced in all academic areas according to district and state standards.
History:
Lake Mathews was built in 2003, opening in September as a shared campus with Woodcrest Elementary. In September of 2004, the school opened as a single campus serving the community of Victoria Grove and students from an area extending as far as parts of Mockingbird Canyon. The school sits near Lake Mathews, a storage reservoir for the Colorado River Aqueduct, which was dedicated November 16, 1940, and named for William Burgess Mathews who worked on the development of the Boulder Dam and Colorado River Aqueduct projects.
