Founded on February 14, 1920, by the suffragists who led the fight for voting rights for American women, the League of Women Voters is rooted in the basic principles of democrary.
A lot has changed in these 75+ years! The issues, the political climate and the candidates.What hasn't changed -- what will never change -- is the central role citizens-- like you--continue to play in influencing public policy and bringing about change.
As members of the most respected, nonpartican grassroots organization in America today, more than 90,000 women and men in 1,000 communities across American work together on the local, state and national levels to:
- Promote positive solutions to public policy issues through community education and advocacy.
- Build greater, broad-based citizen participation in the democratic process.
