Lebanon Community School District serves approximately 4,300 students in Academic Benchmarks 1-4 from nine area communities. A decades-old education heritage was brought together in July 1995 with the consolidation of nine separate school districts into one. The name Lebanon Community Schools was chosen to reflect the greater community that has so richly contributed to the education of the area’s students.

Following a 10-year reorganization and facility development, the District now has three Benchmark 1-2 schools (Kindergarten to grade 5), three Benchmark 1-3 schools (Kindergarten to grade 8), one Benchmark 3 school (grades 6 to 8), and one Benchmark 4 school—Lebanon High School—comprised of four separate learning communities called Academies. Progress in our schools is described by achievement level benchmarks rather than traditional grade levels. Thanks to a major construction bond passed in 2000, all current facilities are new or have had extensive renovation as of 2005.

The District employs 18 administrators and supervisors, and approximately 220 licensed staff and 246 classified staff. District level support includes the positions of Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, Director of Student Achievement, Administrator of Special Education, Director of Business, Director of Facilities, Director of Food Services, Director of Technology, and Director of Transportation. Additional support to schools includes assessment, case management, behavior management, English language learners (ELL), and curriculum and instruction services.

A five person Board of Directors currently holds monthly business meetings, with additional meetings and work sessions as needed. The Lebanon community supports the District in a variety of ways, from fundraising to school partnership to community task forces along with various parent-teacher clubs and athletic support organizations.
