Our History

Lighthouse Baptist Church was begun as a mission of the Shawnee Baptist Church of Louisville under the direction of its Pastor, Dr. Lonnie Mattingly.  In 1998, Sunday services were held in a downtown storefront in Taylorsville.  Four years later,  two acres were purchased outside of town at its current location.  On March 23, 2002 the church organized with sixteen people signing a church charter and covenant and calling Patrick Nix as its first pastor.

The first building was a 28×60 modular building which the church used for three years.  On April 2005 construction began on the current building which includes a 120 seat auditorium, nursery, four classrooms and a fellowship area.

The church has grown from six people to well over seventy in its fifteen years of existence.  Its missions program currently supports seven missionaries serving all over the world.  It has seen dozens of people saved and hundreds of changed lives and continues to be a witness for the Lord Jesus Christ and the word of God.
