The Locust Valley Fire Department (LVFD) is a volunteer organization comprised of over 100 dedicated men and women from Locust Valley and the surrounding communities who provide fire and rescue services to an area known as the Locust Valley Fire District. The Locust Valley Fire District is a 12 square mile area situated on the Gold Coast of Nassau County,Long Island that includes:

Locust Valley
Incorporated Village of Matinecock
Incorporated Village of Lattingtown
Portions of the Incorporated Village of Mill Neck

Locust Valley Incorporated Village of Matinecock ncorporated Village of Lattingtown Portions of the Incorporated Village of Mill Neck The Locust Valley Fire Department operates 24-hours a day, 365 days a year and has full and part-time on-duty dispatching services. Daily operations are overseen by a chief and three (3) assistant chiefs. The department is comprised of six (6) companies made up of three (3) engine companies, one (1) truck company, one (1) heavy rescue, and one (1) EMS company. Together, these units respond to approximately 600 alarms annually. Alarms include, but are not limited to some of the following:

Building Fires
Automatic Fire Alarms
Malicious False Alarms
Ambulance/EMS
Vehicle Fires
Brush/Rubbish Fires
Motor Vehicle Accidents
Investigations of Hazardous Situations (i.e. carbon monoxide, gas leaks, spills)
Ice/Surface Water Rescue
