Church History

In 1995, several families from All Saints Lutheran Church in Aurora formed a working group with the Rocky Mountain Synod and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America to plan a new congregation on Smoky Hill Road. Pastor Tom Renquist was called in late 1995 to be the developing pastor. After ringing more than 6,000 doorbells, the first worship service was held in the cafeteria of Thunder Ridge Middle School with 211 people attending!

A Sunday School program was begun in April, 1996.....a mission statement was developed in June, 1996.....and on December 8, 1996, Lord of the Hills Lutheran Church was officially organized with 228 baptized members!

We began construction on our 9,800-square-foot building in July, 2002, and dedicated it to the glory of God on May 18, 2003.

In spring 2009, we dedicated a parish center that provides 6,500 additional square-feet for classrooms, offices, a choir room and a youth room.
