Macungie Youth Association


About Us:

In brief, the Macungie Youth Association (M.Y.A.) holds all of its home-based functions on the various playing fields and courts of the Macungie Memorial Park.

The Park is centrally located within the Borough of Macungie, at Route 100 and N. Poplar St. Entrance can be gained either through this street or Walnut and Lehigh Streets, which parallel the north and south boundaries of the park.

Organization:

Located in Macungie, Pennsylvania, a suburban residential community about 9 miles south-west of Allentown in Lehigh County, the association is run entirely by volunteers dedicated to providing instruction in youth sports programs such as soccer, baseball, softball, and basketball for the children in and around our community.

The Club:

The Macungie Youth Association offers intramural basketball programs for boys in grades 4 through 9, a "scrub" league for boys in grades 10 through 12, as well as intramural and travel programs for girls in grades 5 through 8. In addition, we also offer a summer league for boys in grades 4, 5, and 6 and girls in grades 5 through 8.

The Macungie Youth Associations boys 4th through 9th grade program is a member of the East Penn Youth Basketball League. This league consists of teams from MYA, UMYA, EYA, SYA, and Alburtis.
The 10th through 12th grade "scrub" league consists of Emmaus High School students with games played against each other.

The Macungie Youth Association currently offers a girls 5th - 6th grade intramural team that is a member of the ?? league. This league consists of teams from MYA, EYA, LMYA, and SYA.
We also have a 5th - 6th grade travel team. Tryouts are required for this team. The team is part of the Lehigh Valley League, which consists of teams from Lower Macungie, North & South Parkland, Lehigh Township, Palmerton, Northwestern, Northhampton, Hockendauqua, and Bethlehem.
We currently have a 7th & 8th grade tournament team. Tryouts are required for this team as well.

BASEBALL:

The Macungie Youth Association currently offers intramural baseball for children from ages 5 through 18.

T-BALL is offered for children ages 5-6.
MINORS is offered for children ages 7-8.
A LEVEL is offered for children ages 9-10.
AA LEVEL is offered for children ages 11-12.
AAA LEVEL is offered for children ages 13-16.
MAJORS is offered for children ages 16-18.

Our T-ball program is for boys & girls ages 5-6 (as of 8/1). These teams usually start practicing in April one or two times a week. Games start in May and usually finish with the end of the school year. No scoring is kept during these games. Children hit off of the tee and progress to underhand tosses from the coach. There are no outs at this level. Our teams play each other as well as teams from UMYA, Alburtis & Breiningsville.

Our Minors program is for boys ages 7-8 (as of 8/1). These teams usually start practicing in April one to two times a week. Games start in May and usually finish with the end of the school year. Our teams play each other as well as teams from UMYA, Alburtis & Breiningsville. These children receive an overhand “dart” type pitch from the coach and can strike out. Outs can also be made at bases and in the field. No standings are kept at this level.

Our A level program is for boys ages 9-10 (as of 8/1). These teams usually start practicing in April two times a week and Saturdays. Games start the last week of April and run through June with playoffs starting after July 4th. Boys start pitching at this level. Standings are kept.

Our AA level program is for boys ages 11-12 (as of 8/1). These teams usually start practicing in April two times a week and Saturdays. Games start the last week of April and run through June with playoffs beginning after July 4th. Standings are kept.

Our AAA level program is for boys ages 13-16 (as of 8/1). These teams usually start practicing in April two times a week and Saturdays. Games usually begin the last week of April and run through June with playoffs beginning after July 4th. Standings are kept.

Our Majors program is for boys ages 16-18 (as of 8/1). These teams usually start practicing in April two times a week and Saturdays. Games usually begin the last week of April and run through June with playoffs beginning after July 4th. Standings are kept.

SOFTBALL:

The Macungie Youth Association currently offers programs for girls ages 7 through 16.

PIXIE is offered for children ages 7-9 (as of 1/1).
A LEVEL is offered for children ages 10-13 (as of 1/1).
JUNIOR is offered for children ages 13-16 (as of 1/1).
TRAVEL is currently offered for children at U-12 level (as of 1/1).

Our Pixie program is for girls ages 7-9 (as of 1/1). These teams usually start practicing in April one or two times a week. Games begin in May and run through the middle of June. Our teams play each other as well as teams from LMYA, UMYA, Alburtis & Longswamp. No standings are kept at this level. Coaches throw underhand pitches and you cannot strike out.

Our A level program is for girls ages 10-12 (as of 1/1). These teams usually start practicing in April one or two times a week. Games begin in May and run through June ending with playoffs. Standings are kept. Our teams play each other as well as teams from LMYA, UMYA, Alburtis, Longswamp, Salisbury, EYA, and Hamilton Park. Girls pitch at this level and balls and strikes are called.

Our Junior level program is for girls ages 13-16 (as of 1/1). These teams usually start practicing in April one or two times a week. Games begin in May and run through June ending with playoffs. Standings are kept. Girls pitch at this level and balls and strikes are called.

TRAVEL is currently offered for children at U-12 level (as of 1/1). At this time there are no travel softball teams.

During spring we offer an instructional program geared toward the abilities of both sexes. An emphasis is placed on having fun while learning the basics of soccer. There are no "league" games played in spring.

For fall, MYA offers children of both sexes with ages ranging up to and including high school seniors the opportunity to participate in an environment of recreational soccer team play in several valley leagues.
