In 1831 Methodism came to Miami County. In 1834 The Methodist Society of Peru was recognized by the Annual Conference and was attached to the Logansport Circuit. The first building was constructed in the fall of 1835 through the spring 1836 at the corner of Third and Cass Streets.
The current sanctuary was built between 1889 and 1892. The Education Building was added in 1957. Major renovation of the sanctuary took place in the early 1980's with a new roof , complete renovation of the basement to create an entirely new kitchen and Fellowship Hall, and the remodeling of the sanctuary.
The membership is currently around 325, and the worship attendance averages around 200 in two worship services on Sunday mornings (8:00 A.M. and 10:30 A.M.).
