The mission of the District is to meet the academic, cultural, social and individual needs of students in order to prepare them to make a meaningful contribution to a democratic society. The Board of Education believes that our mission can be best achieved through the uniform application of high expectations in all areas for students, district employees, and parents. Maple's mission focuses on student's academic, social physical and psychological growth; the rights of all children to a challenging educational program; a cohesive relationship between home and school; a commitment to life-long learning. Our school mission statement, goals and objectives serve as a guide for continued improvement. They are the collaborative efforts of the principal and staff, School Site Council (SSC), Parent Faculty Association (PFA), and community members. The Maple school community establishes a common vision. This vision is imparted to Maple families and the community in our annual School Accountability Report Card, the Parent Handbook, and communications throughout the year. Our vision is clearly stated in the Single School Plan for Student Achievement for the purpose of planning and improving our overall instructional program. Our SSC is comprised of the principal, teachers, and other staff, the PFA co-president and parents. It is responsible for the ongoing planning and evaluation of our improvement plan. Maple's teachers utilize current educational research to develop and implement instructional strategies that have a high probability of enhancing student achievement for all students in all subject areas and at all grade levels. Teachers are implementing research-based strategies endorsed by such acclaimed researchers and authors as: Robert Marzano, Douglass Reeves, Deborah Pickering, and Harris Cooper. Moreover, CVUSD has recently modified the district homework policy to reflect the findings of Harris Cooper's analysis of decades of research. Our goal and ultimate mission is to offer all Maple students a researched-based, standards-driven curriculum that will prepare them for advanced coursework in middle school, high school and beyond. The staff of Maple Elementary School is committed to creating and maintaining an orderly, trusting and caring environment where teaching and learning are exciting. It is every staff member's responsibility to make certain that the talents and gifts of every student are recognized and developed. The Maple community strives to assure that all students are recognized and developed. The Maple community strives to assure that all students understand and model the CVUSD's 6 Pillars of Character. Character Education is embedded in every aspect of campus life and it is profoundly important that all students demonstrate the behaviors associated with persons of character.
