About Us:
We are a local unit of Rotary International, the world's oldest service club, which was founded by Paul Harris in 1905 in Chicago, Illinois. As such, we are a not-for-profit corporation that provides community service and charitable support for our local community, as well as supporting the worldwide good works of Rotary International. The organization of business and professional leaders from all walks of life provides humanitarian service, encourages high ethical standards, and helps in building goodwill and peace in the world. Approximately 1.2 million Rotarians belong to more than 32,000 local clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas.
Our club was chartered in 1959, and averages around 45 to 50 members who live or work in the communities of Mesquite, Balch Springs, or Sunnyvale. Our members represent a wide array of vocations. Among them, you will find accountants, bankers, air conditioning contractors, auto paint and body shop owners, financial consultants, insurance agents, print shop owners, city government administrators, chamber of commerce officials, local school district and community college district administrators, gymnasium owners, dentists, veterinarians, and more. Our big annual fundraiser is the Rodeo Road Rally bike ride, which is held on the first Saturday in June each year. The event began in 1995, and has been a consistently praised, fun event for cyclists that has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars over the years. This success has enabled our club to provide strong charitable support to the area community, and internationally.
