History
In September of 1950, the Reverend Dr. Louis Garrett Gray began work in Redwood City. A new church was being birthed in the community and Rev. Gray was to be the Mission Developer. By December worship services were being held in the American Legion Hall and on June 3, 1951, Messiah United Lutheran Church was officially organized as a congregation of the Lutheran Church in America. 76 adults and 30 children comprised the congregation.
By 1952, Rev. Gray's work had been completed as a Mission developer and Messiah look to calling its first "regular" pastor. In March of 1952, the Rev. Kenneth C. Senft answered the call to be the pastor of Messiah. He began his work in June of that year .
On January 4, 1953, Messiah moved its worship facility from the American Legion Hall to the Women's Club Building.
