About Us:
The Milan Special School District faculty and staff mission is to create a safe and inviting learning environment where all students have high expectations, learn to their maximum potential, and are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to achieve their individual goals. We believe in teaching and learning with pride. We have traditionally shown high expectations and performance in academics, sports, music, art, drama, and other extra-curricular activities.
We offer a rich curriculum designed to meet the needs of the whole child in all of our schools. Working to produce students that are college and career ready as high school graduates, Milan has an established College Access and Success program starting in elementary school and continuing through graduation. We provide many opportunities for students to accelerate their learning through activities such as a middle school STEM program, honors classes, several career and technical education programs of study, and advanced placement or dual enrollment courses in both academic and career related areas. A Coordinated School Health program works in collaboration with every school and the community to promote the health and well-being of our students, staff, and citizens.
In addition, Milan Special School District strives to prepare our students to meet the demands of an increasingly technological world. An up-to-date network provides wireless internet access to each of our buildings. Every classroom has an interactive SmartBoard, and students have access to computers through computer labs and mobile carts.
Milan Special School District has an exemplary record of academic success. Our graduation rate is among the highest in the state with a six-year average of 96.3 percent. For the 2014-2015 school year, all three schools obtained a level five, and the ACT composite score of 20.6 was the highest in our county.
