History:

On Feb. 24, 1953, the Millington Lions Club was chartered by Lions Clubs International with 36 members , all ready and willing to join an international organization whose motto was and still is, "WE SERVE". Their goal was service and their purpose was to help the sight and hearing impaired in the Millington Community and to this date the Lions club still faithfully adheres to that goal and purpose. Three of the charter members are still active; they are Joe Matthews, first president; DR. Sam Rawls, first Secretary; and Bobby Maxwell. Lions Club international is a worldwide organization with a present membership of 1,401,875 members in 44,909 clubs in 738 districts and 186 countries and regions.
