History:
Church of God in Mio begain it's foundation in 1931 by a former Amish couple, Jake and Barbara Miller but wasn't until 1932 when the first building was erected and the first pastor arrived. As of 2013, the first building is still standing on Galbraith Road where it is currently an Amish school. Our present facility northwest of Mio was completed in 1975. An educational wing was completed in 1990 and the Family Life Center opened on Palm Sunday 2006. The Multisite concept was introduced in 2008 with Alpena as the 1st and Ogemaw as the 2nd.
Over the past two decades, our congregation has grown from about 70 to nearly 300 each Sunday. We have truly become a community church, known for our ministries to adults, youth, children, and seniors, as well as those in need. Our focus continues to be on reaching those who do not know Jesus. We are never finished with the work of sharing the Gospel and seeing people come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
