About Us:
Montgomery College is a public, open admissions community college in Maryland with campuses located in Germantown, Rockville, and Takoma Park/Silver Spring, and other convenient training locations, all serving key geographic locations in Montgomery County, a large suburban county adjacent to Washington, DC. Montgomery College serves more than 60,000 students a year, through both credit and noncredit programs (or 14,367 FTEs – Full-Time Equivalents), in more than 100 areas of study.
The Germantown Campus is located in a northern county area that still serves rural and emerging suburban neighborhoods, as well as a growing technology corridor. It has the distinction of being the only community college with a hospital on the campus, providing students with hands-on medical training and state-of-the-art instructional space. The Holy Cross Germantown Hospital opened in October 2015 and is the anchor of the Pinkney Innovation Complex for Science and Technology at Montgomery College (PIC MC).
The Rockville Campus is the largest campus and located near the county seat. It is home to the Homer S. Gudelsky Institute for Technical Education, a public/private/state venture that provides technical training for the community. In addition, the Robert E. Parilla Perfoming Arts Center is a forum where a robust set of arts and humanities programs are presented to the College and community. A state-of-the-art 140,000-square-foot Science Center opened at the campus in 2010, providing much-needed space for students increasingly seeking affordable, high-quality programs in science, engineering, and mathematics programs.
The Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus is located adjacent to Washington, DC. Many changes have occurred on the west side of the campus in the last 15 years, including the opening of the Morris and Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation Arts Center and Cultural Arts Center, housing the Department of Visual and Performing Arts. The addition of this center sparked a tremendous growth surge in the visual arts discipline enrollment. The Department of Visual and Performing Arts operates two professional art galleries, an artist-in-residence program, and presents a variety of theatre productions.
The College has outstanding transfer, nursing, science, mathematics, and technology programs, as well many developmental programs which serve the county and College’s neediest students. In addition, the College offers Workforce Development & Continuing Education (WD&CE) centers as well as off-site programs throughout Montgomery County, Maryland.
