Nana and Pap's Christmas Trees

Nana and Pap's Christmas Trees

About Us:

Nana and Pap (Tim and Debi Broadwell) started planting Christmas trees in 2001 on the farm that's been in the Broadwell family since 1833. The southern edge of the farm is bordered by a river known to the Shawnee Indians as the Spelewathiipi and known by us today as the beautiful Ohio River.

The farm is dissected by the Bullskin Trail, an historic Indian trail that led, in pioneer times, from the Ohio River to Detroit, Michigan. The trail was used by such notable frontiersmen as Daniel Boone and Simon Kenton and also by the great Shawnee Indian Chief, Tecumseh. Designated a public highway February 4, 1807, the name of the trail was changed to the Xenia State Road. It was used during the War of 1812 to transport supplies and troops from the Ohio River to the Great Lakes area. Southern slaves escaping to the north also used the trail as part of the Underground Railroad System. Today, the portion of the trail that passes through our farm is simply a tractor road used by Nana and Pap to transport visitors to the Christmas trees growing serenely on either side.

Upon your arrival at Nana and Pap's Christmas tree farm you'll have the option of walking back the trail to the Christmas trees or you can ride hayride style in the tractor-drawn trailer.  Browse the trees for as long as you'd like to find the perfect one for your family. While you're looking, enjoy the view of the Ohio River and walk along the historic Bullskin Trail. When you find the tree you like best you can cut it down with the saw we provide (we'll help cut the tree for you if you'd like). The hayride trailer will circle back to the trees every half hour or so to bring your family and your tree back to the store where you can enjoy free hot chocolate, coffee and cookies (available on weekends). We will shake your tree on a mechanical shaker to remove dead needles and other debris; wrap the tree in netting if you'd like and help you load it into your truck or tie it on top of your car.
