History:
The first public Library was started by the Fortnightly Club on February 19, 1901. Rooms were first used in the back of Giddings & Giddings Bank. In January 1910, the library moved to the upper floor of the new City Hall. In 1934 a new library was completed. Located at the end of Lusk Park, it was a 30x72 foot building. In 1974 another library was erected and named the Nancy Carol Roberts Memorial Library. An addition was dedicated in 1990. The current building is approximately 11,000 square feet in size. The library is owned by the City of Brenham and members of the Fortnightly Club make up the Library Board.
