National College's educational programs came to the coal-rich Eastern Kentucky region in 1975. Banking is also important to the local economy, and graduates have found success in these and other business and technical fields. Preparation for medical careers also draws students from throughout the region, including adjacent areas of Virginia and West Virginia, to prepare for their chosen career field.

In 2005, the campus moved to a newly constructed, 11,358 square foot facility built at a cost of $3 million.
