History:

Nazareth Baptist Church had its beginning in 1963, when a group of Cuban brothers, suffering from political exile, he felt the need to unite and claim to worship the Lord. Began as a Bible study meeting at the home of Gustavo and Avelina García. This small community of faith was sponsored mission for two years by the Bergen Baptist Church (now known as Christ Community Church).  On the day September 26, 1965, was incorporated as a church affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention.

He was ordained as first pastor the Rev. Jose Ruiz, who served until December 1967. In March 1968 he was named as the new pastor the Rev. Nicomedes Flores. Followed by years of spiritual growth and in number, which required the church to its original local mudase at 311-52 nd St. West New York, the church now occupies.

The church continued its growth, seeing brothers joined many Hispanic countries. The Rev. Flores remained faithful at his post until his retirement in July 1997, having served as pastor of this church for 29 years.  In August 1997 the Rev. Pablo Flores called to the pastorate of Nazareth, and in August 2003, was appointed as assistant pastor to Rev. Felix Valdivia. The newest member of the pastoral team is Hno.Josue Vazquez, who was appointed youth pastor in June 2007.  Nazareth now has a membership of nearly 500 in its mission to proclaim the gospel of Christ in this community and to the ends of the earth.
