North Huntingdon Township is an excellent location to live and work in a suburban growing community with a high quality of life and a small town feel. Residing within Westmoreland County, the cost of living and taxes are moderate compared with surrounding municipalities and counties. We are located within easy commuting distance (less than 20 miles and a non-rush hour trip of 35 minutes) to Pittsburgh (northeast) and the amenities of a large metropolitan area. Drive east for an hour and you are in the Laurel Mountains. The Pennsylvania Turnpike runs north and south on the east edge of the Township with a turnpike interchange located within the community. State Route 30 runs east and west through the middle of the Township.

Our community is middle to upper middle income that is largely residential, with some commercial development. The current population is 30,000 and expected to rise to approximately 36,000 by 2010. There is an estimate of 11,000 homes in our 27.46 square mile area. The Norwin School district has one high school, one middle school, one inter-mediate school and four grade schools. There is one private Catholic school, Queen of Angels, that has recently moved into the Township. These schools serve about 5,420 students. The Norwin School District is currently nearing completion of a major facility renovation plan. The district has a high rate of graduating students (90% of our residents possess their high school diploma) with many of them pursuing secondary education (21% of our residents have their bachelor's degree or higher education). Most of the housing stock is owner-occupied. The number of major crimes committed per capita is 64% less than the statewide average in Pennsylvania.
