About Us:
The North Jefferson church of Christ invites you to investigate our simple plea for New Testament Christianity. For well over two centuries churches of Christ around the world have called men and women back to that pattern set forth in the pages of God's word. Where the Bible speaks, we speak. Where the Bible is silent, we remain silent.
Following the admonition of the apostle Peter, "if any man speaketh, speaking as it were oracles of God" (1 Pet. 4:11), we seek to provide "an answer to every man that asketh a reason concerning the hope within"(1 Pet. 3:15).
We take very seriously Paul's admonition, "Whatsoever ye do, in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him" (Col. 3:17).
While we enjoy a rich heritage that began on the frontier plains of young America, the roots of our faith extend back to that time when the church was established in 33 A. D. Since the "disciples were called Christians" in Acts 11:26, it is our intention to do the same in this 21st century.
We are members of the church you read about in the New Testament. We have no creed but the Christ, no book but the Bible, and no name but the divine name.
In view of the fact that Jesus prayed for unity among His followers, we believe it is not only possible, but absolutely essential that men throw off the shackles of religious tradition and go back beyond the Protestant Reformation, beyond the dark ages, back to that pattern outlined for us in the pages of the New Testament We invite you to investigate, ask questions, and study with us.
