About
Located 25 miles west of Cleveland, the North Ridgeville City Schools are part of the rich history of this community of over 28,000 residents. A close working relationship with residents and good financial management enables the district to continue to make gains in student performance and educational programming.
The School District is one of 614 school districts in the State and 14 in Lorain County. We provide education programs and services to over 4,000 students in a community experiencing sustained growth in new housing and business. We continue to focus our resources on education and student learning through our Strategic Continuous Improvement Plan. Teachers, parents, residents and administrators use this process at both the District and Building levels.
A focused educational action plan, a knowledgeable staff – over 56% hold a master’s degree – and strong community support have enabled the District to meet the rigorous Federal, State and community expectations for programs and services. Beginning in elementary school, a diverse curriculum enables students to effectively prepare for their futures beyond high school. A stimulating curriculum offers arts, music, gifted, special education, vocational, business and college preparatory course work. An optional program enables students to earn college credits while attending high school. Local businesses and organizations support learning through career shadowing programs, classroom presentations, internships, and by providing scholarships.
Ongoing investments in educational programs and a reduction in class sizes have contributed to the rapid increase in the number of standards met on Ohio Achievement and Graduation Tests. We all share in the accomplishments of our students and recognize the hard work of our teaching and support staff, students, and parents that helped to build this success.
Instructional technology is an important learning tool. Each building has classroom computers, computer labs and software to support instruction. The middle school offers an integrated technology application and career exploration program. On-site distance learning is available at the Middle School and High School. The High School offers an innovative video production program.
