The Northwest Kansas Area Agency on Aging (NWKAAA) is a planning, coordinating and funding agency for services to anyone age 60 and older living in northwest Kansas. It is the mission of NWKAAA to address, advocate and respond to the needs of older Americans in Northwest Kansas.
The NWKAAA is part of a national network of agencies created in 1973 by the Older Americans Act. It is a private, non-profit organization with the responsibility for administering programs for seniors in the 18 counties in Northwest Kansas. The Area Agency receives federal, state and county funds. Contributions from participants also provide an enormous amount of funding for service programs. The Area Agency is governed by a Board of Directors who are appointed by the county governments. An Advisory Council also reviews agency programs and conducts public hearings on proposed services. NWKAAA staff is located in Hays and is represented by hundreds of generous volunteers who work together to improve the quality of life for older Kansans.
Goals :
-To serve as an advocate for those over 60.To develop & promote programs that help seniors remain independent in their homes & communities
-To coordinate and evaluate existing programs designed for seniors.
-To provide needed services which help elderly stay independent with comfort & dignity.
