About Us
Oak Valley Hospital is a full service non profit public hospital created to insure residents of rural communities access to high quality medical care.
In 1945 California passed legislation that authorized voter approval to form special tax districts in order to build and operate local public non profit hospitals. In 1968, voters in eastern Stanislaus County formed the Oak Valley Hospital District to serve residents of Oakdale, Knights Ferry, Valley Home, Waterford, Riverbank and the surrounding areas.
Over the past 40 years, services at Oak Valley have evolved to meet the changing medical needs of patients. Once viewed as an inpatient treatment facility, Oak Valley Hospital now manages a network of medical services including inpatient, outpatient, clinics, and wellness programs in addition to its highly visible 24 hour fully staffed Emergency Care center.
While Oak Valley has grown, expanded and added services, it remains true to its mission to serve locally. It remains a community based organization that understands its diverse population and responds to the expectations of its patients. Employing 500 people, Oak Valley is an important contributor to the local community and economy. Collaborating with medical practices of dozens of local physicians, Oak Valley is recognized as a healthcare advocate for all residents in these rural communities.
