Mission:
The mission of Olympic Ballet Theatre is to develop and sustain professional dance, promote dance as a creative performing art, and engage the widest possible audience with a stimulating repertoire of classical, contemporary, and dramatic ballets.

History:

OBT recently premiered the joyful comedic ballet Coppélia, The Girl with Enamel Eyes. Heralded as a huge success by community members, Coppélia premiered April 2011 furnished with state of the art extraordinary sets from designer Hita von Mende, brand new exquisite costumes by Margreet Preston, as well as choreography by former PNB dancers Mara Vinson and Oleg Gorboulev.

OBT has performed its traditional production of The Nutcracker in Edmonds since 1982, at the Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue for ten years and celebrated 20 years with the Everett Symphony. For two years, OBT presented its delightful and full-length production in Seattle’s Meany Hall Theatre and the Mountlake Terrace Performing Arts Center. Currently, we perform this holiday classic in Edmonds, Everett, and Arlington. In all venues, hundreds of school children view our special one-hour performance, which features our trademark “Introduction to the Magic of Theatre,” a behind-the-scenes look at scenery, props, lighting and costumes.

OBT performed with live musical accompaniment, Peter & the Wolf plus Carnival of the Animals in collaboration with Cascade Symphony Orchestra. Performances were held at Edmonds Center for the Arts and the Byrnes Performing Arts Center in Arlington. OBT has also collaborated in a contemporary project with internationally known Seattle Chamber Players. In Spring 2008, OBT performed the full-length ballet Giselle. Other classical productions include excerpts from Swan Lake, and highlights from The Sleeping Beauty.
