In 2007, community leaders in Lexington, Nebraska, meet with the idea of developing a community recreation center. After much research, they decided the the YMCA had the history, support and model to best fit what the community needed. In 2009, the YMCA of Lexington was recognized as a Branch Association by the YMCA of the USA. In 2010, the YMCA converted a former library at 103 E. 10th St. into a temporary exercise facility. In October of 2012, Lexington leaders broke ground on a new YMCA facility that will be attached to the Lexington Middle School. ORTHMAN COMMUNITY YMCA officially opened its doors on October 20, 2014.
