About

The Chamber of Commerce was started in 1954, a voluntary organization of business and professional people. The Chamber of Commerce acts as the primary business advocate for businesses in the city of Philadelphia and the county of Neshoba. It directs its energy to develop and implement programs to have a direct impact on the economy and help build a better community. The Chamber Board of Directors is comprised of 16 members elected from the Chamber of Commerce membership.

On the education side, through its Allies for Education committee, the Chamber sponsors the Leadership Neshoba program. This program brings together a diverse group of high school juniors to participate in a program focused on developing an understanding of personal leadership styles, learning personal and community responsibilities and reviewing character development. We want to provide each student with the basic tools, resources and action plans on how to respond to a leadership role now and in the future.

Mississippi Scholars is another education-based program sponsored by the Chamber. It is a business-sponsored, community-led program that encourages high school students to choose rigorous academic courses that prepare them for college, the workforce and life. It is managed by the Public Education Forum of Mississippi and the Mississippi Economic Council.

The Neshoba County Classic Walking and Racking Horse Show is held each June to raise money for Allies for Education.
