We Beleive
The Bible, both the New Testament and the Old Testament, is the inspired Word of God.
God exists in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Man is sinful both by nature and by behavior. Jesus lived a sinless life and gave his life as a ransom for sinners. The only means of salvation is faith in Jesus Christ to receive forgiveness of sins and the gift of eternal life.
The Holy Spirit convicts sinners, regenerates and indwells believers in Christ. He enables Christians to live for God and serve God.
History
Many people invested their time, energy, finances, and giftedness to spread God's Word into South County before 1972. But in 1972 God put the pieces together to start the ministry to be known as Pioneer Bible Church.
A building had been started in the corner of Clyde and Bev Whitmore's ranch property in the 1960's in cooperation with the Conservative Baptist. That facility was being used as a site for after school Bible classes.
On February 18, 1973 the first Sunday School and Worship service was held. Milt Kammerer was the Pastor (also preaching at River Pines each Sunday morning), Gordon Fulp was the Sunday School Superintendent (and taught the teens Sunday school class); Mary Mielke was the Treasurer (and taught the elementary age class); Milt, Gordon, Harvey, Dave Mielke, Earl Workman (adult Sunday School teacher) and Dale Cundall (a pastor from Placerville) served as the first Elder Board. That first Spring was one filled with growth and excitement, the foundation for a long and successful ministry was laid.
A major transition began on Labor Day Sunday that year. A Sacramento Bible Institute student named Rob Langford, who had been working with the Cowles in the Pioneer Bible Club ministry, was asked to preach for the next two weeks. Two weeks lasted to the present day. In October the Elders asked Rob to be their student-pastor, he and his wife, Shara, accepted that invitation. Soon a Wednesday night Bible study and prayer meeting was started.
In June of 1975 Rob graduated from the Bible Institute and the church asked him to be their pastor as part of the Missionary-Pastor program with the American Missionary Fellowship (formerly ASSU). The ministry had about 40-50 worshippers on any given Sunday and operating budget of about $7200 for the year. The outside help was necessary!
The ministry continued on a steady growth pattern for the next few years. In the summer of 1976, the first baptism was held in the Middle Fork of the Consumnes River (upstream from the bridge). To date over 230 people have been baptized through the ministry of the Pioneer Bible Church. Praise the Lord!!
In 1980 the church incorporated and became an independent ministry. Since that time growth has been steady. Today there are two services with approximately 275 people attending each Sunday.
In July 1995, Pastor Jim Eggert joined the staff as co-pastor. He and his wife, WilleJune have brought an added dimension to the pastoral team.
In recent years, Pioneer Bible Church has participated in Chapel Ministries 50 Day Adventure, AWANA, Promise Keepers, Women of Faith, Marriage Ministry International, Shepherd Ministries, and many other ministry programs in attempting to meet the many needs of the congregation.
