The Pomeroy Public Library dates back to 1914 when the building was completed with Carnegie Foundation funds. The Middleport Library was completed in 1912, also with Carnegie funds. When the school districts combined in 1966, the libraries became one administrative unit known as the Meigs Local School District Library. The library, in 1980, was designated a County Library and became known as the Meigs County District Public Library. In September, 1989, the Pomeroy library moved from the Carnegie building into a new facility. In 1992, the Middleport Carnegie building was renovated and the Racine Branch opened in 1997. Our newest branch located in the Eastern Elementary School opened in 1998.
