The Port Lavaca-Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture was organized in 1933 and incorporated on April 22, 1939. Charter members were W.H. Bauer, R.A. Barton, Guy Cavallin, and J.B. Moore. The first fifteen directors were W.H. Bauer, R.A. Barton, Guyu Cavallin, J.B. Moore, D.D. Boyd, S.C. Tisdale, Howard Hartzog, Leonard Fisher, T.A. McDonald, P.L. Armour, Frank Montier, F.M. Dudgeon, J.R. Clegg, H.C. Smith and Alton White. The Chamber is a private, nonprofit (501-c-3) Organization made up of businesses and individuals working together to improve the economic, civic and cultural well being of Calhoun County.
In 1974, the name was changed to the current name. In 1988 the Chamber adopted the Mission Statement that is currently in place.
The mission of the Port Lavaca-Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture is to provide leadership and support for economic development and stability of Calhoun County, Texas through positive action in promoting tourism, business/industry development, and community pride. The Chamber will also promote the image of its own organization by serving as goodwill ambassadors to create a productive working environment between all county entities.
