We, as Port Orford/Langlois School District 2CJ, strive to provide each student with the opportunity to acquire skills, knowledge and attitudes necessary to become a responsible, contributing community member leading a personally rewarding life.

About Us :

Port Orford-Langlois School District is situated on the southern Oregon coast in northern Curry County. Located 80 miles north of the California border, two elementary schools and one high school supply the educational needs for the approximately 340 students who reside in the district.

Blanco School is located at the north end of the district in the town of Langlois. Incorporating 107 students in grades K-8, it has a teaching staff of seven full time teachers and four elective teachers. Kindergarten students attend only one-half day and students in grades 1-3 remain at Blanco School for all of their classes. Grades 4 and 5 begin their day at Pacific High School where they are taught music. They are then bused to Blanco School for the remainder of the school day. Grades 6-8 spend the last period of each school day at Pacific High School where they may select from Art, Choir, Wood Shop, or Band as elective classes.

Langlois has approximately 200 residents and was once the home for world famous Langlois Bleu Cheese. Floras Lake, situated just 100 yards from the Pacific Ocean and renowned for its wind surfing, is located just three miles southwest of town. Floras Creek provides the southern border for the town of Langlois.

Students from Driftwood School and Blanco School often merge for athletic competition, concerts, school dances, and other events.

Driftwood School is located at the south end of the district in the town of Port Orford. Harboring 110 students in grades K-8, it has a teaching staff of seven full time teachers and four elective teachers. Kindergarten students attend only one-half day and students in grades 1-3 remain at Driftwood School for all of their classes. Grades 4 and 5 begin their day at Pacific High School where they are taught music. Students are then bussed to Driftwood School for the remainder of the school day. Grades 6-8 spend the last period of each school day at Pacific High School where they may select from Art, Choir, Wood Shop, or Band as elective classes.

Port Orford has a population of about 1000 people and is home of famous Battle Rock. Garrison Lake is at the northwestern edge of town. Port Orford's harbor serves as home base for the local fishing fleet and Elk River, regarded as one of the finest salmon and steelhead rivers in the state, is only three miles north of town.

Pacific High School is located approximately midway between Driftwood School and Blanco School in a rural setting. Tucked against the foothills of the Coast Range, Pacific High School serves 123 students in grades 9-12. The high school has met or exceeded all standards required by both the State of Oregon and No Child Left Behind legislation over the past several years and its graduates have demonstrated that they can academically compete successfully with students from anywhere in the nation. In the four years between 2001 and 2004, 63% of Pacific High School's seniors have gone on to attend college. Pacific High School competes in cross-country, volleyball, soccer, basketball, and track and field. The school has a teaching staff of 13.

The Sixes River, nationally known for salmon and steelhead fishing, is located just two miles south of the high school and Cape Blanco, "the farthest west point in the contiguous United States" is only a short drive away.
