About Us
Potomac Highlands Soccer Club is located in Mineral County, West Virginia, and is the only private youth soccer club in the United States. It is located in a lovely valley on Pattersons Creek, just before it runs into the Potomac River. The Potomac River divides Maryland and West Virginia. We are at the head waters of the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal that runs from Cumberland, Maryland for 150 miles along the Potomac River to end in Washington, DC. It is owned and operated by Susan Barse and Nelson McAvoy. It was started in 1996 and by necessity was privately owned because, in mountainous country, school yards were not planed with large enough fields. We are on the state boundry so we have players from both Maryland and West Virginia.
