About Us:
Greetings from Prince of Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church located in rural Bangor, Pennsylvania.
Thirty years ago, effective January l, l972, three small Lutheran congregations within a 3-mile radius merged and became Prince of Peace Evangelical. Lutheran Church. Because there was adequate land available, the present building was erected on one of the former church sites located 1 mile off Route 512 on the berm of the small village of Johnsonville, Pennsylvania in Upper Mt. Bethel Township in Northampton County. Most members live within a 3 to 5 radius of the Church.
The building was dedicated May, 1976 and after payment of the original mortgage, a building addition was completed in 1990 to enlarge the kitchen, fellowship hall, and to add classroom space. As a result of the steeple being struck by lightning in July, 1994, repairs and renovations were completed in subsequent years and more recently the parking lot was resurfaced, an additional parking area was added, and the sanctuary was air conditioned.
