The Department of Public Service consists of versatile, loyal employees dedicated to providing excellent service to the residents of the City of Fairlawn. The major objective of this group is to protect the multimillion-dollar investments and assets owned by the City in a cost effective manner. The department is organized into four different divisions; Street Maintenance, Park Maintenance, Building Maintenance and Vehicle Maintenance. Street Maintenance Division
Some of the services provided are: snow removal, street sweeping, street repair, street pavement markings, hot applied joint sealing, tree trimming, mosquito fogging, storm sewer repair and other miscellaneous services too numerous to list.

Parks Maintenance Division
This division maintains approximately 54 acres of city parks and grounds including 1.55 miles of scenic boardwalk that winds through a historic wetlands area. The grounds surrounding the municipal complex are fully landscaped and maintained by personnel in this division.

Building Maintenance Division
Three full-time personnel are assigned to clean and maintain six city owned buildings as well as assisting with grounds maintenance. Community center set-ups for weddings, parties, fitness classes, and many other events require these personnel to be available seven days a week throughout the year.

Vehicle Maintenance Division
This division of service is responsible for maintenance and repairs of a fleet of 44 vehicles including police cars, fire trucks and EMS squads, Service Department trucks and tractors, small engines, compressors, generators, and compactors, as well as many other miscellaneous mechanical devices.
