About the vision for this church:

Early in our Spirit-filled days, a number of us would meet together for worship and the word in the Community Building in Charlestown, Indiana. One morning, I was praying for direction from the Lord as to what my part was in what we were doing in Charlestown and the Lord spoke to me. He told me that 'He was giving me six months to get out of Charlestown and to get to Sellersburg because He had a work He wanted me to do.'


I resisted for a number of months, but the Lord confirmed that this was His will to me and to others. We obeyed in December of 1976 and began meeting in Sellersburg. Over the next few years, the church grew, we built our first building and started a Christian School in 1978. Life went on.


In 1984, I was feeling that my vision was blurry and I wondered in all of what we were doing, was I doing the work that He wanted me to do. I needed God to speak something definite to me. In June, I was praying for God's direction. The Lord gave me the vision for this church in answer to my cry for help. It was of a telescope that allows us to see things that are far away and that cannot be seen with the naked eye. I have tried to remain faithful to the vision ever since. I measure what I do and what I allow the church to do by the vision He gave to me.
